PAGE OVERVIEW:

Parent Advocates for Gifted and Enrichment Education, a.k.a.: PAGE, a non-profit educational organization, was formed in 2005 to offer enrichment education to student members of the Wickenburg Unified School District’s Gifted and Talented program. In 2006 the first annual Summer Science Camp Spectacular was held, and PAGE quickly realized the need to include all students that had a high interest in Science and/or expanding their knowledge.

To date PAGE, with the support of the WUSD, has successfully facilitated the fourth year of Summer Science Camp Spectacular, with up to 80 students attending each year including Wickenburg and surrounding area students ranging from grades 2 to 8. This has become an anticipated and publicly supported event. The evolution of PAGE has included other community events such as the Family Game Night, and has become a 501c3 tax exempt entity, a Corporation, and an affiliate member of the Arizona Association of Gifted and Talent, a.k.a.: AAGT. PAGE is in the process of developing a website, www.wickenburgpage.org, which is linked to the Wickenburg Unified School District website www.wickenburgschools.org, as well as the AAGT website www.arizonagifted.org. All work is done voluntarily by a very dedicated board, passionate about unleashing the potential of our youth, and by the loyal support network of administrators, teachers, volunteers and sponsors in our community.

Vision Statement

Parent Advocates for Gifted and Enrichment Education (PAGE) has a vision, a dream, that in the near future all children, regardless of age, ethnicity, and socio-economic group will be able to reach their potential without the barriers inadvertently created, whether in public or private school settings. We see a day when children may work at an accelerated pace based on their learning styles and desire to progress. With the necessary guidance of properly trained instructors, eager to understand the special needs of the gifted & talented and high achieving students, we see a classroom using available technology and already established tools to foster a learning environment of high caliber. We dream of a day when G&T children no longer face the scorn of stereotyping and myths, i.e.: elitist, don’t need any help, already smart, can be utilized to help teach slower students, don’t have learning disabilities, overly high expectations because of intelligence level (autonomy), should be smart in every subject; when more lessons don’t mean better lessons. We want to educate and collaborate with individuals in the political, educational, and parental arena that can make it a reality for children to become leaders and innovators in our society, with equal rights, to encourage rather than discourage their passion for learning and exploring. We dream of a day when truly, no child is left behind. It is our responsibility to educate our children for their future, and not our past.
